The long-awaited Five Nights at Freddy’s movie has finally been released, much to the delight of fans worldwide. After eight years in the making, the film hit theaters and the streaming service Peacock on October 27, 2023. It has already achieved great success, grossing millions of dollars globally and breaking records. The collaboration between Blumhouse studios and Scott Cawthon has resulted in one of the biggest movies for both parties.

Five Nights at Freddy’s started as a game created by Scott Cawthon and has since become a popular horror franchise with a massive fan base. The series has spawned merchandise, fan games, fan art, cosplayers, and even YouTube theories. The demand for a movie adaptation was so high that after the release of only three games in 2015, it was announced that a Five Nights at Freddy’s movie was in the works with Warner Bros. However, after failing to agree on a script, the project moved away from Warner Bros in 2017. The fans were left in the dark until March 2017 when Cawthon announced that Blumhouse would take over the project and Emma Tammi would direct the movie. After several years of rewrites and new directors, the movie is finally out in theaters and on Peacock.

The Five Nights at Freddy’s movie had an incredibly successful opening weekend, grossing $80 million domestically and $130 million worldwide. It not only broke records but also became one of the most successful horror movies produced by Blumhouse, surpassing even “The Super Mario Bros.”

Having watched the movie and gathered opinions from others, including celebrity reviews, I can confirm that the film is a must-see for fans. It successfully combines elements from the games and the books, providing a fresh start for the confusing timeline. Fans who watched the movie in theaters had a truly immersive experience.

While the movie may not have many jump scares, there are a few off-screen deaths and a reference to the infamous “Bite of 83′,” now known as the “Bite of 2000.”

However, what the movie lacks in jump scares, it makes up for with exciting cameos. The popular YouTuber Matpat from The Game Theorists makes a cameo as a diner worker named “Ness,” a nod to his earlier theory about the connection between Sans from “Undertale” and Ness from “Earthbound.” Additionally, CoryxKenshin, known as the “super samurai,” plays a taxi driver who takes Cassidy (Golden Freddy) and one of the leads, Abbi, to Freddy’s Fazebear’s. There is even a post-credit scene featuring CoryxKenshin. Another planned cameo from the “King of Five Nights at Freddy’s,” Markiplier, unfortunately couldn’t happen due to scheduling conflicts.

Rumors are circulating that Blumhouse and Scott Cawthon are already planning a second movie, which is expected to be even gorier and scarier, focusing on FNAF 2 and possibly introducing The Marionette.

If you’re a devoted Five Nights at Freddy’s fan and haven’t seen the movie yet, I highly recommend it! It is currently showing in theaters and available to stream on Peacock.
