The senior night celebration for the boys’ tennis team took place after their home match against River Forest, on Wednesday.
The senior boys on the tennis team, Cameron Fields; Cole Hurst; Louis Roy; and Jayden Valliant, were looking forward to their senior night.
“I’m excited about getting to celebrate with family and friends. I’m also excited to see everyone else’s families and what they have to say,” Hurst said.
“I’m most excited for the food. We’re gonna have Godfathers. We’re gonna have chicken, and we’re gonna have cupcakes. We’re gonna have all that and everything more,” Valliant said.
With their final season’s end approaching, the boys reflected on their favorite memories throughout their tennis careers.
“My favorite memory was when we got past the first round of sectionals last year. It was very motivating,” Fields said.
Hurst has learned perseverance through his experience on the tennis team.
“It’s led me to be more resilient in sports because there’s definitely tougher opponents and it’s more about staying consistent than actually winning,” he said.
Some wish that they had more time to improve their skills.
“I feel like if I had one more year, I could be so much better,” Roy said.
“There’s a lot of things that I would change for the most part. It has been an exciting experience. I wish I would’ve joined the year before,” Valliant said.
There are many different feelings that arise from being seniors on the team.
“It feels great being a leader for everybody,” Fields said.
“It feels kind of sad because I don’t get to play on the team anymore,” Roy said.
