Homecoming spirit is in the air as big events are approaching. There are a lot of exciting new things planned for the week.
Next week students will be performing for ABC 7 News, we have a pep rally coming up, the homecoming dance, and a district-wide homecoming parade.
This year the homecoming theme is “Fall Westen.”
“The theme western is more like lights and lanterns, and it’s not like hats and cows. We are not going to have horses bringing people up. There are not a whole lot of places to decorate either,” said Mrs. Carrie Altieri, co-sponsor of Student Government, which planned the event.
Student Government Vice President LaMonte Baker said the theme is interesting.
“I feel like it’ll be fun,” he said. “I feel like some people will enjoy it, and some people will just do their own thing, but that’s normal. People are going to go their own way. Personally, I would dress up according to the theme.”
Another part of the week is the Homecoming Parade, which now has every school in the district participating.
The parade will begin at 6 pm Thursday and travel from the school past the Dairy Queen down Broadway and re-enter in front of the school.
Another tradition is students dressing up for Spirit Week. The spirit week themes are:
Monday- Teachers and students swap day
Tuesday- Inside Out Emotion Day
Wednesday- Jersey Day
Thursday- Hawaiian Dav vs. Motorcyclist Day
Friday- Class Colors (12th black , 11th Purple, 10th Gray, 9th White).
The week culminates with a pep rally at school Friday and the big game against Valparaiso with the crowning of the Homecoming Queen at halftime.
