Merrillville High School’s annual homecoming festivities culminated in the crowning of the Homecoming Queen and Mr. Football during a spirited halftime ceremony.
Senior Pascha Campbell was crowned Homecoming Queen.
“It was a fairy-tale ending for me to be crowned Homecoming Queen on my 18th Birthday,” she said. “Best day and surprise of the year! Such a great way to cap off an eventful day.”
Earlier in the day, Campbell was present at 4 a.m. to be on ABC News with the Band for the Flyover, followed by the pep rally with the rest of the court.
“Hours later on that beautiful night we arrived at the game and then the moment I dreamed of came true! My favorite part of the night was being with my family and hearing the crowd sing happy birthday to me. I cried happy tears as I stood on the field hearing Mr.Past announce that I won Homecoming Queen,” she said.
On the other side of the field, senior Adam Camphor received the title of Mr. Football. When asked how he felt upon receiving the honor, he shared, “It was an incredible moment. I’ve put in so much hard work, and it’s rewarding to see it recognized.”
Reflecting on the season, he said, “I wouldn’t change a thing. Every game has brought us closer as a team.” When asked about the most memorable part of his season, he noted, “Winning the last game with my teammates was unforgettable. We celebrated hard together.”
As for why he believes he received the award, he remarked, “I think it’s a reflection of the dedication and effort I put in, but it wouldn’t have been possible without my teammates pushing me to be better every day.
“This represents all the hard work and teamwork that went into this season. It’s a reminder of the journey we’ve taken together.”
