Netflix has released two documentaries following the NFL top receivers with the most yards for the 2023 season and five of the NBA’s best players . Both documentaries showcase not only the physical, but also mental aspects of their journey.
The series “Receivers” features 49ers’ Deebo Samuel and George Kittle, Raiders’ Davante Adams, Vikings’ Justin Jefferson and Lions’ Amon-Ra St. Brown throughout the 2023 campaign. This documentary is a must watch for NFL fans; it gives great game day footage accompanied with practice footage and interviews while making ample time to tell the backstories of each player. It also shows the differences between how each player handles injuries throughout the season and shows the similarities between how seriously each player takes care of their bodies with recovery. This documentary is so immersive, it makes you feel like you’re a part of their journey with them.
The “Starting 5“ is also a great documentary featuring Heat’s small forward Jimmy Butler, Timberwolves’ shooting guard Anthony Edwards, Lakers’ forward LeBron James, Kings’ forward Domantas Sabonis, and Celtics’ forward Jayson Tatum. The documentary really goes into the behind the scenes behind the players success. They especially highlight the players’ personalities, while also showcasing the family and friend time that they are still able to make time for. Even though each athlete is at a different point in their career, it stills shows the common goal of wanting to win a NBA championship and lead their teams to victory while still making sure they navigate their own journeys. In addition to the priority of time spent, making sure their bodies are taken care of for longevity.
Both documentaries highlight the hard work and determination put into each sport, and makes it an absolute must-watch for football and basketball fans alike.
