Ariana Grande has released her deluxe edition of her 2024 album eternal sunshine, eternal sunshine deluxe: brighter days ahead. With six new additional tracks, Grande tells of feelings of love and moving on and finding peace within yourself after lost love.
intro (end of the world) – extended
Grande opens the deluxe portion of the record with an extended version of the opening track “intro (end of the world).” In the song, Grande explores the feelings of a failed relationship: “I wish I could un-need ya / So I did.” She expresses her feelings of regret over heavenly strings.
twilight zone
In “twilight zone”, Grande alludes to one of her favorite shows, The Twilight Zone. The song opens with a mystical, synthy intro that sounds straight out of the Stranger Things score. “twilight zone’s” transcendent feeling, along with its beautiful vocal layers, makes the song stand out amongst other tracks on the record.
warm
“warm” is a fun, upbeat track, much remnant of her 2018 record, “Sweetener.” “Can you hold the space I require, or will you turn the page?” Grande references the viral “holding space” meme that was trending on TikTok stemming from a press interview with her Wicked costar, Cynthia Erivo. “warm” is a magical and vibrant song where Grande sings about how pleasant it is to be in love, in comparison to being alone.
dandelion
The song opens with a jazzy trumpet solo that slowly and sweetly transitions into a trap beat, leading into a fun song where Grande flirtatiously sings to her love interest. “You can get anything you like / I’ll be your dandelion.” “dandelion” brings a happier mood to the deluxe portion of the record.
past life
More R&B than pop on the scale, “past life” Grande accepts that she is better off without her past relationship, “I’m fine to leave you in a past life.” Grande belts about moving on from lost love and focusing on herself and her career.
Hampstead
In the track “Hampstead”, Grande silences all of the media and nasty headlines that have been published about her within the past year: “But quite frankly, you’re still wrong about everything / So far off, your seat’s nowhere near the table,” Grande establishes and accepts that the press will never know the truth about her personal life, through a beautiful, emotional ballad. She closes the ballad by going from studio vocals to live vocals, making the song even more raw and touching, ultimately closing the record.
