Halloween ends with a disappointing chapter

After 15 years of the Michael Myers franchise, it finally comes to an end, but not in a way you think. Halloween Ends came out recently,  and it really wasn’t that good. If you haven’t seen Halloween Kills, watch it first because at the beginning of Halloween Ends it gives you a solid preview of what happened at the end of Halloween Kills. I was expecting more because it was the last Michael Myers movie, but it wasn’t even about him. It was about the new main character Cory Cunningham played by Rohan Campbell.

The plot was just all over the place because it would switch back and forth between Laurie (Jamie Lee Curtis from the original Halloween) and Allyson played by Andi Matichak, Cory and Michael, and Laurie and Cory, and Cory and Allyson. It just didn’t make any sense because it starts off with Laurie, giving the background of Michael Myers hunting and wanting her so badly.

At the beginning of the movie Cory does something that makes him become scared of society, and scared of being called out. A group of friends harrass him for what he’s done even though it was an accident. That’s when Laurie steps in and backs Cory up, but the group of friends end up calling her a freak and Cory a psycho. She notices he has a bad cut on his hand so she takes him to the nurse’s hospital, where her granddaughter Allyson works. Allyson and Cory make eye contact, and it’s love at first sight.

A half hour on the movie was wasted on Cory when it shouldn’t even have been about him. It should’ve been about Michael (James Jude Courtney) and Laurie face to face and him saying his first word to her, but Michael only has 10-15 minutes of screen time.

The acting was strong though. For example, when Allyson and Laurie were arguing, it is so intense because it demonstrates how she’s still terrified of Michael, but has been putting up a strong front. It also shows us how she’s tried and tries to protect everyone around her but they all end up dead. She is still reminiscing about the loss of a lot of people along the way, and that’s why she still has nightmares and gets harassed everywhere she goes.

However, the performers are wasted, and overall it was a disappointing end. A failed finale.
