Season 2 of “Squid Game” was watched over 126 million times in its first week coming out, climbing to the No. 2 most watched on Netflix in its first week out.
With the first season being so successful the producers wanted to revive that hype with Season 2, bringing back the main character 456 to go back into the games to stop them once and for all.
In season 2, we not only follow 456 (Gi Hun) two years after the games and his struggles with the loss of his friends and being the sole survivor of the games. He is also hunting the salesman for the games to try and figure out him and the games. We also find out at the very start that In-Ho the front man’s brother is still alive and his life’s falling apart as well. We also see what it is like to be a guard in the games with No-eul who is guard 11 and we get to see more behind the scenes of the Squid Game.
This new season of Squid Game it shows us the aftermath of the games from two of the main characters. In this new season they show 456 and how he’s been struggling with the death of his two friends from the games,he is also hunting down the salesmens and trying to stop the games, and when he captures the salesman he is told the front man would be at a club later that day. He teams up with In-Ho who we find out is still alive and is also hunting down the island to find the games and his brother. Once they team up they go to the club where the frontman will be, but things go south and 456 gets taken by the frontman and is put back into the games to try and stop them.
I think this is a good pick up from season 1 of Squid Game. It does a good job of showing the impact of the games on 456, and also In-Ho after the realization that his brother was the frontman of the games. They also do a lot of things differently like changing the games and adding in In-Ho looking for 456 instead of his brother.Though this subplot leads nowhere in the story and didn’t really have a purpose. The first to episodes dragged on a little to long also I think they should have cut it down just a little bit,but besides that it was still a great part 2 and did an amazing job at capturing the consequences of the games not only on the eliminated but also the winners.
