Merrillville’s very own Charisma ‘Izzy’ Lawrence finished first place in her weight class at the IHSAA State finals. Making her a state champion.
She walked in that morning motivated with a plan.
“I wrote my speech that morning, rehearsing it all day,” she said.
Confidence and drive led her the entire day, despite obstacles she made it through.
Izzy said “keeping in good spirits and wrestling hard” helped her endure til the end.
The next day she was celebrated during halftime at the Boys Basketball game.
“I love the adrenaline rush and attention too, I think it’s pretty cool,” she said.
